I’ve been doing graphic design for close to 10 years now as an amateur, playing around in such applications like Corel Paint Shop Pro X, and Adobe Photoshop. Why? Mainly for the experience, honing my skills, and for shits and giggles.
Only recently have I started putting my skills out there for commercial reasons. For the longest time I felt that my work wasn’t of sufficient quality worth charging for. Recently, I had a friend of mine say that I should be charging for my work because it is at that level.
So that’s what I’m doing. Making money by putting my talents to work, which is where the attached image becomes relevant. I’m even going to start a small business with my partner to put those talents to use.
In the words of The Joker portrayed by Heath Ledger:
If you’re good at something, never do it for free.
