Into the Grim Dark, for the Chaos Gods!

What’s up, everyone? It’s been a bit of a while since I’ve posted, but hopefully y’all are still getting those email notifications, and seeing the Facebook posts. Thanks for staying with me if you’re reading this.

Lately, I’ve been on a huge Warhammer 40,000 binge. I recently started playing the Dawn of War II: Warhammer 40K games on PC, which I’ve not really batted an eye towards previously. I had a brief understanding as to what was occurring storywise, but didn’t fully understand it until a work mate explained to me the premise of Warhammer 40K around the same time as I was previewing Battlefleet Gothic: Armada for Sticky Trigger.

It was at that point, that I became more interested and sucked in.

On to more recent events; I started playing the tabletop game via TableTop Simulator with a friend, who showed me the ropes and how to play with the “One Page 40K” rule set. I absolutely obliterated him with my Chaos Space Marines that are sworn to Nurgle, and this was enough to convince me to buy a proper miniatures set to play with.

On Monday, I bought the Dark Vengeance box collection from the local Games Workshop retailer near where I work. Contained in the box are two armies, the Chaos Space Marines and the Dark Angels. Matt, the guy at the GW store, told me I could re-purpose the Dark Angels into “Corrupted” versions via the paint job, but after talking with my Fiancée, we decided to go in together and take an army each.

I chose the Chaos Space Marines, which left the Dark Angels for her. She loves the idea of them, and says they’re growing on her.

Yesterday, we started our first steps of making the army, by cutting the various pieces out of the prefab sheets, cutting off the burs and filing them down, and eventually putting the pieces together and gluing them. We haven’t got to painting them just yet, but I figured I’d share with you some of the ones I’ve done already.
